I am going to look at a Z400 tomorrow. I have not seen it in person but I have seen pictures. I do not know Z400s very well and have only ridden one before just for a few minutes.

This is what she is

03' Z400
It has full skid plates
full exhaust
aftermarket front bumper
new rear GNCC ITP tires
nerf bars with heal guards

It is suppose to be in good shape and it looks good in the pictuers but who knows what it will look like in person. The only thing that the owner knows for sure is a little problem is he says the axle has a very slight bend in it. He said you can only feel it if you are going kind of fast on the street.

I can get it for $2200

Tell me what you guys think of it for the price.

MY buddy just picked up an 03 for 2200 but it had no time on it. Stock tires with no wear. Perfect shape.

You can find stock axles if you look for around $75 shipped. G-Forces sell for around 200 for an adjustable. Offer $2000 cause you need to replace the axle.

Well I would have thought 2200 would have been a good price but it sounds like it may be a bit much. He was at 2500 for it and he came down to 2200.

I also found an 03 Warrior that is actually in really good shape and has a few nice bolt ons on it for 1500. I was thinking of getting ths for my wife to ride until I came across this Z. She use to be able to ride my old 400EX pretty good so I am not sure of getting her the Warrior but the price is much nicer on the Warrior.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for the info.

A z400 is a MUCH nicer quad than a Warrior. If your not pleased with this Z keep looking for another one. Warriors were fine back in 92', but I wouldn't be caught dead on one now.....

$2200 is an average asking price for an 03' Z400 around here. Just talk him down off the price. I would consider $2000 a good deal on a Z of that model year. These other prices these guys have listed are just down right steals. Not your average asking price.

If you are willing to sacrifice some time and gas money look elsewhere like another state. Look at www.atvflorida.com Florida riding areas are depleting by the minute so everyone is offloading while they can.

This is mine and I bought it in Las Vegas for 1500$ last year but I had to drive 180 miles to pick it up. Its a buyers market.

I dont think $2200 is a bad price. He already has an aftermarket exhaust, full skids, nerfs and bumper on it. Thats damn near $700-$1000.00 alone in parts depending who makes it. The axle isnt chit. You can pickup a used one for cheap. Its really gonna boil down to how bad its warped. Or, you could do what I did and just take the axle out and have it straightened at a dealer or independent bike shop. Is it the best deal, nope! Is it a bad deal? Nope! I think its a fair price. Just my 2 cents:D

$2200 sounds fair to me.... on my local craigslist(seattle) there a guy on there with a stock brake light, stock bumper, stock grab bar, and a stock rear axle for $75 bucks..... so you can find cheap parts on here, ebay and craigslist

Thanks for your input guys. I am probably going to pass on this one for now. We are in no rush to pick one up right now. My 250R has a long way to go before it can ride and we don't really ride much on the summer anyway.

Look on nada.com or kbb.com to find trade in vs retail prices. You should pay closer to trade in values.

Boys - extra's don't count for sh_t. (unless its something big) your not gettin 100 bucks more cause you got a different bumper .....................

2200 is way to much for an 03.

Looking for a 400 myself for the nephew. Tried craigslist & so far the 2 we looked at weren't the same as the picture.

One was probably stolen.

The other the ad said 05 - it was an 04 & he also said he had 4-5K in extra's

Yo - I wasn't born yesterday - a different bumper,pipe,nerfs & stupid wheel spacers don't come close to that $

I think 2000 is not bad at all and depending on how the bend is, i would leave it alone if its not too bad. When people come on here and say they got one for 1500 and all that crap, of course they got a steal and they are rare. An if you do get it and get another axle, just to let you know the 03 model have a different axle carrier and axle bearing setup, so if you get an axle make sure it will be okay for the 03 model, and ONLY 03. the 04 and up models are different.

I cant believe people are complaning about $2000 for a Z no matter what year ! if in good condition its a good deal ,they sell blasters that are from the 90,s for 1500 so 2000 for a Z is a steal IMO.

I picked up my 04 kfx 400 for $1,650. Didn't know too much about them at the time.

I had to replace waterpump, wheel/axle bearings, cam chain and various odds and ends.

Total invested to get it mechanically sound was $750.

So I will say $2400 and it is just like brand new.

Spent another $400 on upgrades.

keep looking. i bought my05 kfx400 (same as a z400) for 2400. its all stock but the stock tires have more than 50% tread and it sat for the last 2 years so all it needed was a crab clean. the guy even gave me some freash oil and an oil filter. id keep looking or see if he can drop the price

I know this topic is older but:

I had the "enjoyment" of an 03 in my shop for a couple of weeks.

The frame was broke above the top shock mounts. The upper motor mount side plates were both cracked. Steering stem bushings all worn to hell....

Those stupid plastic expanding pins in EVERY FRIGGIN THING!! were mostly broke.

Those were stock things, the other stuff that was bad was wear and tear. But all in all, I wouldn't have given him 700$ for this quad and he found some idiot to give him double that recently.

IMO, they are miles above a warrior and or a 400EX - ESP the JUNK WARRIORS!! But IDK what issues they addressed in the later years but it has the potential to be a decent quad, just not back in 03.............

ya 03's had weak frames. but you have to keep in mind its all about the owner and how the ride. like i have a 92 warrior thats in almost perfect condition. its all stock and nothing broke besides the clutch lever and i finally popped the stock back tires. so if u find a older quad it doesntmean its always bad, its how people ride and how the treat their machines.
