i am not sure what the stock stuff is but hotcam stage 1 is intake=.005 and exhaust=.006. If you did that then it is probably the normal sound of the hotcam ticking. steve

I have a webcam and it calls for stock valve adjustments and it ticks pretty bad especially when it gets hot.

Mine does the opposite, i have a stock motor with hmf and it ticks while its warm and then goes away when it warms up why would this b? is that normal?

No its not normal for the top end to get quiet. The valves have a "tick" to them. They have to open a certain amount if not it can overheat real easy or some other problems can occur. Get those valves checked!

do you have to drain the oil to adjust the valves?

Make sure you're using the correct scale on your feeler gages. Most have markings for both metric and SAE.

Specs for stage 1 are:

Intake --

.13mm (.005")

Exhaust --

.15mm (.006")

If you confused SAE and metric and set the intake lash to .13" instead of .13mm, it would be really noisey and probably run like poop.

Nope. It just has to be cold.
