Dyna CDI Ignition Rev Box-similar to Sparks Key?

I just bought a new Sparks key and gasket, but have not yet installed. Is the Dyna CDI rev box do about the same thing? Any advantages to one over the other? I know the Sparks is a bit cheaper.

does the cdi advance the timing or just raise the rev limit?
