i figured out kinda why my 250r wont run it gets gas and it gets spark but it only gets spark like 1 or 2 out of 5 or 6 kicks does any one know what would cause this

If you have a stock ignition, the spark will be a little weak. I had the same problem when I did my re-build. I thought I didn't have a spark......(I was holding on to the spark plug.) It had a little bite but not enough to knock you off your feet. Hope this helps ya out.

could running a wrong spark plug cause it? cause the guy i bought it off of had a b8es and i put a br8es and it started right up and ran good

ITS A BAD SPARK PLUG!!! i had the same thing happen on my mower. lol. When i would turn it over it would spark very rarly and then i replaced the sparky plug and it fired right up.

yea i geuss but the br8es i put on it was used and real old but it worked better than the b8es i used a couple times

Since you have a stock ignition you're going to want to gap your plugs tighter than they come. Try gapping a BR8ES to 0.018" and see if that's any better.

also gap the pickup .18 too.

my spark plug gapper is in mm so what should it be at also i rode it around today and it was fine then i got it into 6th and then i was slowing dowm and started to shut off i dont know why it keeps happeneing so i put another old plug in and it started up then did the same thing

thats wierd that it would go through all gears and do it on the 6th gear.

check the wires that go from the sparkplug cap to the coil and see if they are loose.

the reason why I was asking was it may work fine till you going past 60mph and then something might be popping loose. Could be the stator, but why would the other gears work?

oh maybe im not sure but it doesnt start once it shuts off i have to put a different plug in it

the new plugs dont work for some reason but old ones do and the swinger is working great

i dont think it is a spark problem i just kicked for like a couple minutes after it shut off then it started back up but could it be jetting cause it is all stock jetting and its not getting enough gas

okay, then why is it that it runs fine through all the othere gears but not in 6th?

alright sorry bout all the question but i figured out the float hieght was set wrong and did it yesterday and now it runs good all the time
