How does a 115lb young lady manage to fubar a set of wheels on one MX? :huh
Kelsey didnt even race very hard this wk end .
We ran 7lb in the tires ,which should be plenty for her size. This is what we have ran in alot of her tires. Bot hwheels look this this.
Glad it wasnt a worcs race! lol
These are newer wheels.

Im stumped..

Time for rolled edge rims or beadlocks.

WOW :eek2:

i'm 200lbs A class rider and i've never squashed rims like that. best tell the girl to take it a bit easier next time. she must be halling the mail if she did take it easy and ended up with wheels like that. imagine if she was going full force. the tires would of been ripped off the wheels:D

yea stock wheels are a lot stronger than those. stock wheels (at least for a honda) come with rolled edges.

sounds like a good reason to bump up to hipers to me lol.

Are those .190's Tina? Doesn't appear to be rocks, so I'd be ticked!

Beadlocks or reinforcement rings. I'd weld in rings to those rims and use them for practice.

We have beadlocks too for MX, but I would have never guessed she would have taco'd them like that. :p
Shes always been hard on wheels.
You should have seen what she done to a set of honda OEM ! :scary: I swear she searches for the biggest rocks in the desert. LOL
I guess Ill have to start looking around for some beads for 20 inch wheels since thats what she runs mainly.,but I still dont get why the wheels didnt hold up??
Im not sure what guage they are, but even my Sons 125's never looked like that and he jumps pretty big .

Something reinforced, like ITP Baja might be a little cheaper than beadlocks and give you the strength you need.

That's going to happen to any non-rolled lip rim at the MX track.
My friend made a set of rear red labels look even worse then that in 1 day at the track. And there were no rocks on the track at all.

Douglas ultimate's are the way to go. Bead lock or not, still the strongest I've seen.

I've run ITP Baja rims on my LTR450 for a couple years now and love them. But that's mostly fast woods riding, only a little jumping. They are a heavier wheel, not sure I'd like them for MX. But they would take the abuse. Last I did MX, I used .160 and those even bent a lil. Def don't want less than .190, and rolled bead edge makes a big difference.

I smoked my pairs of 190's also. They're not strong at all.

190s are no good, like has been said, in the 400ex days my cousin got some and we were only c-b level riders he literally made 2 corners at speed on our track and it had such a flat spot the tire lost all air pressure

Wow thats crazy! ive never bent a rim like that and im about A class speed!

I guess we all have been lucky then because we have never had wheels get beat up like that ever.
I guess I was just shocked to see her tear up a set of wheels like that being she is so small.

Do you think it could have something to do with how shes landing ?
Im just glad she didnt lose a tire, one accident within the year is enough.
Good day at the track though!

I jumped a jump so big one time it done this to my wheel, their face goes straight to.........:eek2: :eek2: :eek2:

Tina, its time to get that girl a set of wheels with atleast a rolled lip. Beadlocks better yet if the budget allows. Those standard douglas red label .190s have never been worth a crap for me. I can bend/gouge the lip on that style of wheel in one ride.

Yep!

Bill I destroyed a set of 190 douglas rears at twister during one practice day. Made them look like squares. I was running about 7lbs of air in the rear too, lots of larger jumps there though, but nothing crazy. The cement like-dirt probably didn't help. I also went through a near new set of holeshot MX rears that day because of how hard the dirt was. It was an expensive practice day.

ITP are junk unless they are bealock. Douglas are usually pretty strong but it seems OEM are a bit better. I can bend front wheels but I cant bend my back. My back wheels i've accidentally hit jumps running around 4PSI in them good thing they werent too big. Ever since I bent my front running 5PSI I put about 8PSI all the way around. Verdict I dont think its worth getting aftermarket wheels unless they are beadlock or a rolled lip/reinfoced ring .190.

OEM Honda's are stronger than any of the .190's, the Hondas are rolled lip.

Shes got both,I have some 8 inch Burgards for MX and OEMs for her 20's right now . She will most likely run the OEMS at Nationals since her Razr 2's are on there now.
They are actually mine but I just dont ride enough this year to really need them. :(
I wish I could afford to spring for a another set of beadlocks this season before her rider support is gone, but money is just too darn tight this year and IVe got one thats just about ready to graduate out of minis this fall.:ermm:
Its never ending! :p
I never guessed in a million years she would damage the wheels like that (they are an ITP after taking a closer look) but I know what NOT to run again.;)

so now my question is ..........
what good are wheels like this really good for then ?

I dont know. I've heard of SOME broken hipers, but I've heard of a LOT more bent aluminums. I'd rather just get some tech 3 hipers personally.

Im stumped as well. I can't think what could have caused them to do that. The only thing i can think of is off the starting when i ran into the starting gates my tires hooked up on the gate but I think that would have affected the front wheels, not the back. Dad is right. I am hard on wheels.

My .190 fronts look like that after every round. Straighten the lip and back at it... I REALLY need stronger wheels!
