Lot of machine work moving the cylinder case mounting studs + modding the cylinder.

the pilot or oddessey cylinder is another cylinder that they throw on there. makes it a 400. would i reccommend either one? NO, if your looking to go that far go for a 370 kit.

If your ridding terrain matches your username you do not want a 370 for woods riding.

true, but he would not want a polanda either. lol

You're probably looking for cheap, big-bore power, right? I'm sure you could find a polaris cylinder for much cheaper than a brand-new aftermarket cylinder. And who could blame you for looking, who of us wouldn't want cheap power?

Hate to break it to you, but cheap power doesn't exist.

if you want to do a polanda, I know of 2 that are for sale (cylinder, head, intake, exhaust manifold and stock stroke OEM crank). Both these were replaced with the new Puma setups.

They are easier than you think. The Polaris cylinder has a slightly smaller base bolt circle than the TRX. The easiest way to is to modifiy the cylinder slightly to slip over the studs. You will still have to bore and clearance the cases to accept the BIG sleeve.

I have built/owned 3 in my bikes, built another 6 for customers. All of which are great motors. There are several key things that you have to do to make em run good.

My last one put up 71 hp and 51 ft lbs of torque....was a total stump puller. I ran a TRX5 center mount and a 40.5 ESR carb on gas with a stock flywheel/stator and dyna ignition (which took a dump 3 times before I got the last one to work).

Dont let those that have never owned, nor built one scare you away.

i have never ran a polanda set-up but the 401 rondaxs that me and jon 370 run have been dependable powerful and the replacement parts are cheap compared to other set-ups after the machine work is done to the base.

Jon ever get that polanda he bought up and running yet ?

With that size stroke and bore it does not matter what cylinder you put on it, it will have lowend power, that is not specific to the polanda.

the polanda, if setup (ported, dome design, crank case compression ratio, cranking compression ration) correctly can run like a stock cylinder with monster power band width and range. having high 40 ft lbs and 60+ hp easily.

if you shop around you can pick up a cylinder/head cheap off of flea bay...gotta have someone build the exhaust & intake manifolds. they have HUGE reed cages and the stroke are identical to each other so port timing really doesnt need much mod'n

The only reason I thought of it is because I have a Polaris big boss 400 and I saw the trx runnin them cyls I would love a big bore like that but there's nobody that I know of with in wi that does case work mabie janssen does but I was thinkin would be sweet any there any other cyls used? How much work did you have to do to the rotax cyls??

So if I'm reason it right you can use the stock trx crank but have to mill out where the smirks of the sleeves go in the cases? What would you make with a stroker crank? And is the stroke the same on the trx as the Polaris?

Thanks

strokes are the same.

you do have to bore the cases to fit the big sleeve in them. However, the bore is so big it goes into the hollow cavity, so you have to fill them with an epoxy first.

the big bore honda guy these days is Pete from Hybrid Engineering in Vancouver Washington.

my buddy has a pilot motor built by titan racing and rb racing 7 mm stroker 449cc it hauls yes there is alot of machine work and time that goes into these set ups but the torc is out of this world... havent redynoed it yet after some more porting but it was around 48/49 foot pounds

actually if your gonna go that far, forget the old skol Niks cylinders all together and go with the new Puma instead.

even with no porting what so ever they produce high 60hp. try and do that with a Niks cylinder and youll spend $1000's just to get there.

hey dont mean to bring up an old topic but i have 2 of these cyls so im going to build one... but i need some help...

you said i need to epoxy some place... where is that at?

what size carb do you run...

low
mid
top

along with pipes?

a LRD 350BB going to do the job? do you have to mod the pipe for exhaust angle? or is it ok stock?

Bringing up an old topic again...haha, but I would be curious of the same thing. I don't see making an intake manifold as an issue, but what about the pipe mounting?

i got a build going, its in a thread on here some place... search my name.... just need to get the cases bored...
