View Full Version : Locked Swingarm, salvagable?

If the bearings, bearing carrier, or w/e is in the rear of the swingarm lock up, can you replace the bearing carrier and bearings and still salvage the swingarm, or does the carrier going bad also damage the swingarm?

I'd really hate to spend $300+ on a swingarm if it isn't needed.

you shouldnt have to buy a new swinger
i replaced all the bearing in mine.

Mine just locked up also I broke it all down and saw that the carrier had took most of the damage ordered a longstar cast dual bearing setup...

If you can remove the bearing and/or carrier without damaging the swingarm you shouldn't have to replace it. But if you aren't careful removing it once it has seized up you may damage the swingarm and end up costing yourself more money by having to replace it.

hey sounds like mine. i have the same exact problem. how hard is it to change.? what all do you have to do.. never done this before

You guys needing help try this thread. Its not that hard at all.

Go to search, type in "removing carrier". And a thread called,
"How to Remove Your Carrier Bearing" should show up near the top. Its written by pappy.
