I have used those rubber plugs that expand with a butterfly nut and had no problems, worked well.

If worse comes to worse we've "rebuilt" threads using JB Weld and then tapping.

thanks for all of your help guys. i'm just gonna try to re tap it to a bigger size. i have a small oil leak coming from the underside of my motor also, i seen A few hairline cracks but noting huge. do you think it might only be the gaskets? i might tear the whole motor down just to make sure the cracks arent all the way through, thanx.

Don't tear the engine all the way down, just for a minor oil leak. Just put some JB Weld on the cracks, let it dry, then sand it smooth. That will hold and seal up the leak. As for the stripped plug, if you re-tap it, use a good amount of Vasoline on the tap. The shavings will stick to that and you can just clean the tap off. Any Vasoline that gets in the engine will be fine. It is a petroleum product, so it is safe. Hope this helps!
