i've been putting so much money into my 400ex and im sick of it. no matter what, i cant get it to stop leaking oil, mainly the head gasket, ive checked it for warpage and it is not warped. im either going to buy a new motor for it, sell it and buy a 450r, or keep my extended axle and works shocks and buy another 400ex

heres what i have done to mine, maybe someone can tell me how much its worth

pc frame
works front shocks
full skidplates
lonestar +4 axle
blingstar bumper
426 wiesco 11:1 compression
lightwieght flywheel
barnett clutch
aftermarket timing chain
protaper bars
msr clutch handle
maier race plastic (no headlight)
new battery
rebuilt topend
trinity exhaust- looks bad, and has a small hole in it
holeshot rears, bald stock fronts
needs-
aarm bushings
rear shock linkage
stator side gasket
airbox breather
exhuast pipe leaks
head gasket- never buy tusk they dont last
and the oil filter leaks

how much is it worth?
for the right price, i'll get rid of it forever

Are you talking about the valve cover? If so, replace the o-rings on the lifter caps...

Maybe the head bolts are just loose alittle, i'd check to see if there properly torqed down.

Buy a better gasket torq the head bolts to proper setting.

On oil make sure you didnt leave the old oil o ring in when replacing or replace the o ring

I noticed you dont have HD headstuds, that could be the cause of your head gasket leaking constantly. Also the bolts that hold the oil filter cover on strip VERY easily, or you may just have an o-ring problem like the other guys said.

the head studs are factory and they are torqued down

Maybe try some HD studs from gt thunder, there not that expensive and may fix your problem

When you replaced the head gasket did you make sure to remove all of the old gasket material and make sure both surfaces are super clean?

just did that last week on our lil 440 stroker. same problem...leaking gaskets. peeled slightly the head, cylinder and cases.....installed the BIG studs and no more leaky leaky.

spent nearly 4 hours on the dyno yesterday trying tons of stuff. made 43 hp (a gain of 3)
