im kinda leaning toward going with the 440 kit instead of the 426 or 416. for those with the 440 kit or with experience, hows the reliablity of a 440 on the trails...i ride trails only.

for trail and general riding i say stay with the stock or no larger than the 426. unless you have air scoops, a fan and you jetted a bit phat those 440's heat up quik.

Ran a 440 for 2 season of xc racing....never had a problem so long as its jetted correctly and you use oversized head studs!

I have a 440 and pretty much all I do is trail ride. I have air scoops but I dont have a fan yet. I havent had any issues with my machine overheating at all. Its really nice to have all the torque of the 440 when you get to some squirrelly spots on the trails it just walks right through them with ease.

8yrs on my 440, stock studs, 11:1 compression piston. I do run the auxillary oil cooler that re routes the oil so its thrown on top of the cam.

Only problem has been 2 cam chain tensioners going bad.

Why do you think you need to go to a 440? Everything that I could do on my old 440 I can do on my 300 that I have now. Sure, I may not be as fast as I was, but there is always someone out there that has a faster quad.
