Little tire question for you guys. I have my R project that I am building to be a fun play machine and trail ride.

As far as tires go, Should I get 4 ply or 6 ply tires? I know the 6 ply will be much tougher but is there much of a weight or ride difference?

I am building on a buget so what I was thinking of for tires were some Kenda Claws or some Razors. Any thoughts on tires?

Thanks guys.

if you ride on big sharp rocks, get 6 ply. soft dirt or sand get 2 or 4 ply.

If I ever get my R done, my local trails are sand and whoops with lots of roots. When I ride up-state, it is mostly clay and some rocks.

I guess maybe the 6 ply would be better. Do you guys have any other thoughts on a type of tire other than what I have mentioned above? I would love to do Razor 2's all the way around but they are going to cost a little more than I will have to spend.

Have any of you ever tried the Duro Hook-Up ? It is a 6 ply radial and from Rocky Mountan they are not priced bad at all.

look into GBC X-Rex tires. They are 6 ply, same as razr2's, and cheaper. Duro arent a bad tire tho. I rock holeshot xcr's on my 250r and xrex on my ex.
both great.

I was in the same predicament as you, but said f-it and ordered Razr2's all around. If you can, you won't regret it- they're a little on the heavy side, but they are tough as nails and hook up like crazy. If I were to do the budget route, I was strongly considering Kenda Klaw XC's.

I agree with you "IcutMetl" I've ran Razr2's on my 250r and my 400ex. They are unbeatable. Where I ride is very very rocky and I am yet to have a leak.
