how loud are these engines

hey guys im new to the 300ex top end my 450r make a lot of noise but how much should the top end on the 300ex make i just adjusted mine and has a very faint tick am i ok i got screwed over on the last one where the tick was louder than the hmf on it

if you still have a tick, it isn't right. i had no more tick on mine after i adjusted the valves. it is very annoying too i know.

I've been driving the shart out of mine for 2 years with that little tick and mine still runs great.

My 300ex has a tick as well, still runs fine, but I'd still like to adjust my valves.

i hear many quads -types, styles and manufacturers tick\tap. My buddy i ride with just bought a BRAND NEW 2008 Yamaha Raptor 350, he has about 300 hrs on it.. and it ticks. Piston slap is more serious.. and also is louder than a slight ticking sound. as mine was doing.. (cracked Piston) after i replaced the piston and rings.. the louder tapping went away (along with the smokey exhaust).. but yet a slight tap still remains. and this is after getting a new head and valves.. after replacing cam and bearings with New.. after getting new DID cam chain and new cam chain tensioner (as well as the new piston & rings). I just live with the sound. i really only notice it when i am sitting idle.. when i am riding.. i hear nothing.. it sounds great. I had a honda streetbike that did the same thing.. she ran great for many years until i sold her for a quad.
