What octane fuel do you guys run in your motors with the HRC kit, 06 bike if it matters, i have always ran 110 but i have heard it is better to run 110 and 93 mix cause 110 causes the motor to run to hot. Also have any of yall heard of monster race fuel and have you heard any bad thing about it.
Thinks

if you are only running the hrc kit, there is no need to run 110 octane. 93 octane is fine. I hate to break it to ya' but you mine as well burn the extra money your putting towards race gas. Unless u have a built motor ie; high compression then there really is not much of a benefit.

Race gas acctually makes it run cooler! and although there is no dyno difference, there is definatly a seat of the pants difference with hi octane

 not enough difference to catch me spending that kind of money on a motor that by no means requires it

well ive heard it is better to run it with 110 ive been runnin it like that for a year, its got the full hrc, hmf exhaust, and no airbox lid, and u can tell a diffrence when u run straight 93, it has to have more octane, but here recently ive heard its better to mix

It actually requires more energy to burn higher octane fuel. Look it up. The higher octane rating only saves you from pre detonation and knock. But since you dont have a high compression motor (12.5 +) you are just wasting your money. Blaine is right it usually runs cooler and also may help protect your valve seats/vavletrain if it is leaded but you ill not gain any power!

i would run 93 with the HRC, there is no need to run race gas, i have 15:1 compression and im only running half C12 and half 93 and its fine

the only seat of the pants feeling youll get from race gas is if it is oxygenated, but if its just race gas, your not feeling anything.

15:1 wow. Haven't seen that kind of compression in awhile. Dyno your quad yet? hrc kit is just a cam....and some other junk. You really don't have to mess with your fuel til you up your compression. Oxygenated gas is so expensive, u4.2 VP gas is around 75 for a 5 gallon drum....Not worth it...

i also have an 06' with full hrc and all i run is 93. runs great. there aint no way i'd spend the extra money on that high octane unless i up'd the compression.

no im not in this for pure HP numbers, i race MX, i dont really care the HP number, i just want a good motor and these bikes love compression

well, my 07 runs like sh*t if i run just 93 (ping's/spark knock) so i have been mixing 93 with avgas 50/50 and it runs great with a huge difference, and also 06 and newer 450's are 12:1 compression, so how much different is 12:1 to 12.5:1?? not much:ermm: ??

lol well that is actually a big difference. You need to start running higher octane fuel AFTER 12.5:1 (like i said before). I never said you needed full 110 octane im sure you could get away with running less. What is the avgas your running called chevys&honda? You probably dont have predetonation at 12:1 it is most likely soemthing else you are hearing unless you have had you combustion chamber drastically changed. You also are wasting your money that you could be spending on other mods if you were smart. Call any reputable motor builder and they will tell you the same!!

it is predetonation for sure!! In 4th and 5th gear under a load it will ping(with 87-93) im running 100LL mixed with 93, if I don't it ping's,(predetonation!!) it started after i put my revbox in, and i get the 100LL for free,so im not wasting any money, but its not to bad in price anyway, it's like $3.25 a gallon.

How can you hear pings at 4th and 5th gear?

with my ear's? if i was to cruise in 4th or 5th like half trottle then gun it, it would ping, it does not do it with high octane fuel
