03 500 rubicon wont shift

when u crank up the bike its in neutral when u select farward or reverse d1 d2 esp blinks it will move but will not shift out when u pt it in reverse it will move but cuts out this all started when the starter messed up and had to start with pull cord replaced starter need help

Both our 05 and 06 have done the same thing, and found the idle is too high. If you pull your choke out make sure thats all the way in and if that doesnt work under you right side of bike remove the plastic cover and there is a nob screw thing where you can adjust the idle (sorry about the lack of tech terms) Mine has a black nob around a screw with a spring under it that is upside down. good luck
