I wish I could make it, but my brother is getting married Memorial Weekend and I'm in the wedding. I asked if he would mind if I slipped away for a few hours to race but he didn't like that idea too much! Good luck to all the racers and take lots of pics to post up here after it's over. I'll miss seeing everyone.

Kelly,

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it out. We'll miss ya, I'm sure the girls class will breath a sigh of relief knowing they won't have to battle with you.

Lots of new changes on the intermediate track for the race. Just added a second set of whoops. All the jumps have been widened to make plenty of passing room.

hate to say this dan but me and landen have a district6 race that weekend! Landen, another rider and me are battling it out for the points lead right now so I can't miss the race. I was more excited about doing the breezewood race than any race all year, especcially with the big trophy!!

In June we will try to plan a trip to be out there! Keep the track wide for passing so our buddies can have a race of our own! :blah:

Is anybody claiming the first place trophy in the 250 class???? how about them raptor riders???

I hope to be there, if I race I'll probably do 450 advanced. Just because there will be less people in the class. lol

So the race is on the intermediate track? Thought I herd something about using both tracks at one point? Just a rumor?

dan harris
05-12-2009, 04:34 PM
The race is just on the intermediate track, originally it was going to be combined.

The start will hold 13 quads comfortably. Somebody bring their camera out this weekend and take some pics of the start and all the changes. Track is twice as wide as before.

If we have enough riders I'll add a Beginner class too. Would be nice to have that many quads. I think the 250 class and the 400 class's will be popular also.

Everyone coming out to ride this Memorial Day weekend will be entered in a drawing to win a Free Dream Camp Week Pass. ($1000 Value) We will do another drawing for a free Dream Camp Pass July 4th weekend. Hope to see you here.

As with all the classes if we have alot of riders turnout I'm willing to add more classes. I just don't want to run 30 classes of 2 and 3 riders in each class. We have room for 13 quads on the gate and I'd like to see close to that many on the line for each race.

I could talk my dad into running with you but you won't have very harsh competition. He doesn't like to leave 3rd gear on my 450 because "it's too g*d damn fast and it makes my ciggarette go out!!!!" :D

Well its finally here, the only chance all year to race at the PROVING GROUNDS is this coming weekend. SUNDAY MAY 24th at 3:00 pm. Sounds like were gonna have a good turnout from what I've been hearing.

The intermediate track has been totally set up for the race, the weather man calls for great weather. Hope you can make it out. We have 3 foot trophies for first place, great memorable plaques for 2nd and 3rd and cool number plates for fourth place.

Gate pick for moto one will be done by the sign up order, the earlier you sign up the better gate pick you get. Sign ups start at 8am sunday morning.

The cook out is on Monday at 1pm. A one day weekend riding pass is $40, you can ride from 8am to 8pm except Sunday we are closing the tracks at 3pm for the races. A two day pass is $60 and a 3 day pass is $70. Racing is $30 per class. Two moto format.

Tracks are in awesome shape, just added two more tractor trailer loads of mulch today.

Spectators and Non riders are charged $5 at the gate.

Matt I have VP C-12 in five gallon cans here at the park, Its $70 a can. I don't get a price break on it, or make any money on it, I just keep it here for riders convenience.

Tracks are super sweet, I just finished watering and came in to check emails. Lots of good quad riders here already, including the Sunco crew. .....who by the way is already looking for an axle to fix the one they broke this morning on the 450.

Weather is P E R F E C T !!!!!!

d3ktrix
05-22-2009, 12:36 PM
Does he need a stock or extended axle?

And do we need a kill switch to race?

08mxkfx
05-22-2009, 04:47 PM
Ill call up a few friend to see if anyone has a spare axle? What is it for?

dan harris
05-23-2009, 04:32 AM
tJ's already got a new axle in the 450, thanks to Daryl at Bedford Motorsports, he got hooked up and is back on the track tearing it up. No tether cords needed to race.

Lots of quads showing up so far for the race, but I still think there are more bikes here then quads so far.

.....gotta run and put some water on the tracks.

Man what a great weekend. Our biggest turn out ever !!! Thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed their holiday weekend here at the Proving Grounds.

We had 143 racers show up to do battle on the intermediate track. Unfortunately all the rain Saturday Night Swamped out alot of the good inside and outside passing lines. Still we were treated to some good racing, especially in the quad classes.

Congradulations to all the winners and thank you to everyone who signed up and raced.

And a special thank you to everyone who voluntered to help out all weekend, all the great people here made it a smooth event.

Hope to see everyone here again soon.

quad2xtreme
05-26-2009, 06:59 AM
That is awesome news Dan. Maybe you should start your own series? :D Out of curiousity, what was the split between dirt bikes and quads?

I don't think we've ever had more than 60 quad riders at any D13 or D29 race here in NC other than when the National is at Birch Creek.

Big Congrats!

dan harris
05-26-2009, 07:34 AM
Big Jon,

I'll have to check on those numbers, all the racing papers are in the sign in booth, I'll post it later.

I know we had 6 in the money class, 7 or so in the Advanced Class, the intermediate class had 20 signed up, we ran two gates for them. The 400 class had at least 10.

Yeah it was a good turnout for an outlaw race. definately more bikes then quads all weekend. With the nationals up here this weekend and the D6 points race, it kept alot of the quad racers away.

The Sunrise Crew had a great time.
Flyboy got 1st & I got a 2nd. Father & son went 1 & 2. ( Dan always makes me look good ;) ) Ya just can't get it any better than @ BPG. Everyone looking out for each other. Thats what makes life fun. I did some jumps I hadn't done before. Tried to get better at the ones do do.

There's no trophy for being the oldest guy racing quads that weekend, but that would be me :eek2: . 47 Its just great hanging out on the track. And Yes Flyboys dad is faster than yours

If I'm looking to be satisfied - I go to Breezewood.

Thanx again Dan, Amanda & all who were there. Nice to see old friends & make new ones.

Way to go Flyboy - Dads proud of ya. Now get out there & wash those quads before I get home from work :p

See ya soon Dan:devil:

John thanx for the reply on the axle - I still might need it. :D

Had a good weekend riding but thats the last time i race on that track. 1 lane the entire track. Every place to pass that was there in practice wasnt groomed for the race so it was impossible to pass. Other then that it was a great weekend. Awesome practice track, bad race track but that just my opinion.

I said it earlier that the inch and a half of rain the night before swamped out all the inside lines. Chris still found room to make two passes and Justin made one. I know they ride here all the time and know all the lines. But I really think the track will make a great track to race on, especially for quads.

Im not hating on the track at all im just saying its not a race track. I love practicing on it but not a track to race. Im not mad that i got beat by local boys since they ride there every weekend i know Im faster then them.

Jesse,

Next year the races will be on the INTERMEDIATE TRACK again. I also like the big track better, but more people prefer the intermediate. We had twice as many racers this year then last. I think the intermediate track makes a better race track. Granted with an inch and a half of rain the night before and 7 tractor trailer loads of mulch on the track it was pretty much one line on Sunday.

IMO it was the best run & most fun "Outlaw race" ever !!..

not taking anything from Dan or his efforts , because both were top notch !!
.. but if someone /anyone expected things to perfect or the track to be tremendously different than how the track is on any other weekend they surely need a quick reality check
...my 11 yr old girl had a blast & didnt complain about the track 1 bit

as stated already the rain can & does do unwanted things to ANY MX track ..but this is normal at times for this part of year..we have raced 9 times already this year & 6 of those races were mudddy & conditions were not always perfect but we race because we love racing MX....no mater the conditions of tracks !

thanx again Dan we had damn good weekend @ Breezewood !!

& BTW myself & Lauren will be back next year ...
.( if doesnt interfere w/ her racing schedule etc) when you have the 2010 race

jesseweaver
05-27-2009, 05:34 PM
yea i agree on the int. track being better for racing, probably a lot better better for spectating and also a lot more room to line up classes before the motos. just needs bigger jumps for the race!

i think one thing that could MAYBE be changed is the really small bikes and quads and how many laps they run. it gets really dragged out and you almost always know whos gonna win when they're about half way down the start straight... but hey i guess they pay the $30 too and get trophys and plaques and i'm sure if i was a parent with a child racing i would disagree with everything i just said lol :ermm:

I think that what the race is about is to give anyone a chance to try it out & see if its something they might like.

It also supports BPG.

Its just plain fun.

The more you support anything at BPG the longer we'll all have a place to ride.

Truth be told - you can't find another DAN HARRIS. His compassion for any rider that shows up at his place is top notch.

Just go there & ride. EAT DRINK & BE MERRY
