OK I need some opinions to help me decide what to do. I have narrowed my A-Arm and Steering stem Choices to Houser and Herrmann.

Here are the facts:
1. I am buying +1 A-Arms and +1 Stem for XC riding and the occasional GNCC.
2. My bike is a 416ex w/Works Triple Rates w/ Rezzies, and T-2 Bars, I may possibly get an IMS Tank.
3. Herrmann's are $499 PC'ed color my choice, Stem $250 pc'ed my choice anti-vibe with clamp. Houser $525 pc'ed a couple choices, Stem $270 gray anti-vibe w/ clamp.

If I go Herrmann I will do the stem and upper a-arms matching in a red-vein powder coat and gloss black lowers.

If I go Houser I will do red lowers chrome uppers and get the stem pc'ed red or black.

What are your thought on this? Houser or Herrmann?

Jason

BTW My Frames will be pc'ed gloss black tommorrow, and I have silver maier plastic with a black and red Factory Effex Graphics kit. And red factory plastic.

go with herrmann, i think they use heavier ball joints. plus they are cheaper, and you get them whatever color you want. and by some ppl theory on "you get what you pay for" to **** with that. herrmann is a great product, brad just dont rip you off as bad on 25.00 worth of tubing. i have houser long travels on my 465 ex, and herrmann long travels on my crf/ex and i think the welds look better on the herrmanns, it looks like they actually used filler rod, housers look like their fused, even tho this doesnt applyto you cuz you arent getting long travels, the herrmanns use a better king pin setup, they are bolted together, not snap ringed. plus, housers, are another 75.00 for the uppers chromed.

jl are u from herman??/

houser would be my choice and here is my reason...

i know lots of people with houser a-arms and not one has had a problem... they are proven that they work very well and that they hold up strong... they probably are about the same but i have heard of more houser a-arms and never one bad thing about it... either way i think u'll be happy...

def houser dont go herrmann. houser is so much better than herrmann ntpracing, what proof do you have of this? I own products from both companies, and when held side by side, DEF HERRMANN, DONT GO HOUSER. HERRMANN IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN HOUSER. housers welds all look like their just fused with no filler rod (just burned together with no material added) herrmanns stuff is heavier too, by this i suspect they use heavier walled stuff, and the standard shock housers use the chinsy ball joint like burgard (not raggin on burgard) herrmann uses a quite a bit bigger one like the ones found on roll desgn's standerd shock a-arms. thats always one of my concerns with ball joints cuz i broke my hip cause of a ball joint breakin. i know someone who bought a set of housers and kept bending shocks, then he got some arens a-arms, and his bent shocks were a thing of the past. this tells me that the shock mount was in the wrong spot on the a-arm. and the king pins dont apply to the guy buyin the +1 std travels, but on houser, they are held in with a flang on top of the king pin, and a groove and snapring on the other side of the heim. about mid-season last year, i had replaced all the junk snap rings with some high quality John Deere ones :D the herrmans, consist of two flanges and a bolt goin thru to hold them in, much better setup. plus with housers design, anyone who has the lt housers, go out and look at the top joint and turn the bars, if you have a bit of use on them i bet the king pin turns inside the heim. im not ragging on houser or anything, even tho it dont look like theres much on the welds, i havent had any problems with them cept a broken swingarm. im just stating the facts that i experienced, and its herrmann from now on for me, cept a arens chassis when they come out seeing how their cheaper, and have ex geometry.

Well D-14 cleared that up. Get Herrmann. Arens is also another brand you could look at.

If you want an a-arm setup with the top arms using a ball joint with a male stud that will break, get the Housers.:D

Im not talking about the king pin bolt d-14....I meant the male stud that goes into the a-arm......

By they way, houser's top arm piece (heim) is nothing more than a male studded rod end. The stud will break. I know these things guys, dont ask me how.:D

OOOOOOHHHHHHH, i gotcha, where the ball joint threads into the arm ;) sorry, i had a brain fart, but that is pretty heavy stud goin in tho, but i think it may be aluminum.....not sure on that, never payed attention.

Its probably zinc plated carbon steel. Carbon Steel=soft, weak. Alloys=stronger. Male stud=bad, very bad.

i dont care for the stud either, but what about the lil heims where the a-arms pivot on our herrmans, i trust a heavy duty stud style on the uppers, but on the lowers...uh uh

You lost me d-14....Im pretty sure on mine the upper and lower kingpin/bolt/stud/machined sleeve is the same on top and bottom, as are the bearings too....You lost me dude, unless you have a different setup. I have the +3 long travels for use with 19" shocks.

I have found that most people are bumping there prices a little throughout the industry. Seems like from the 1st of the year to the end of the first quarter this kinda of thing happens.
