I was looking at the K&N powerlid and was wondering if it really made a big difference or is just a replacement K&N filter good enough. Also tell me if anyone know where to get them cheap or anyone is selling a powerlid or filter.

Couldn't tell you were to find one cheap.
As far as effective they are almost the equivalent to removing the lid completely. Were they shine is keeping the crap out of your airbox. Removing the lid and/or adding a power lid you WILL need to re-jet. A huge upgrade. Do you need the lid. Depends on riding conditions. I have one and hardly have to touch the filter. I have to clean the lid after almost every ride. The Z airbox is very restrictive.

For the riding I do, I like having it. Really dusty. Depends on your situation. You could live without it and be sure to keep up on your filters maintenance.

Only the power lid. Absolutely. Just a filter.......probably not.

I would suggest this. Go get a few jets from your dealer in the 150 - 165 range. That's three jets. Should be no more than a few dollars each. Take your lid off and rejet it. Really see what you are gaining by ditching the lid be fore you drop money on the power lid. If your in love get the lid for protection as your jetting shouldn't change much if at all. You will notice a difference but why spend the money for something you may not feel is worth it in the end.

Basically for $6 -$10 try it first. For jetting I would start with the 165 and drop as needed. If it puffs a bit or bogs when jumping on it drop a size and repeat. You will also have to add a 1/4 or 1/2 turn on your fuel screw. Specially if you notice a pop on deceleration.
You will probably end up at the 155 or 150 depending on mods and elevation

Hey man if u want to talk about saving money look up the thread about the home made air box lid!! I used plexi glass and made one for my 400ex and put a outerwears cover over it and only spent about $20 instead of buying a box and filters. Jetting is a great help with the increase!!

I went to the dealer today and got a 150, 155, and 157.5 jets. I also bought a 25 pilot. Would you recomend changing the pilot that much if at all?

Would you get the filter or lid first. Or do you think it would be ok to run it with lid and no filter? I dont ride in very dusty conditions.

My apologies...it is a 130. Sorry bud. Don't know why I was thinking that. I would just run it as is. Once you pickup a new filter I don't think your jetting will change much if at all.

P.S. Not sure if you are thinking the lid replaces the filter because it doesn't. It is just added protection for an open airbox. If your not worried about dust or water than no lid is fine.

Ok thanks for the response and yeah i know it is just added protection and i do notice a fairly big difference without the lid. Thanks for the help with everything.
