well, I have windows vista on my laptop and the other day I was on it and I got an update message...so I updated it etc. rewstarted my laptop and it wouldnt let me browse the internet. My wifi switch is on...so for ****s and giggles I tried logging onto AIM and it worked. I can talk on aim, download music..basically do everything but browse the internet. So I did a system restore deleting the update and my browser worked...I tried updating it again and its doing the same ****. Anyone know what could be in this update that wont let me browse the internet?

using IE? or firefox?
or what? could be that your internet browser isnt up to date on the newest update for vista.

and if it isn't.

then let me tell you, vista is garbage.

sounds like you have a virus that is attached to the executable file attached to your browser. i had a similiar issue and the virus was so well hidden i had to pay a tech to find it and delete it.

Try using Opera?

I use Opera and I haven't had a single problem out of this computer in the 2.5 years I've owned it.

Im using the 64 bit Vista Home Premium..:)

Yes, I would see if it's and IE issue or something else by loading in another browser.

I had this happen recently with an update. Check the Microsoft update webpage to see if there's a patch for it. I ended up messing with mine for a long time and eventually uninstalling the update, and then I looked at the Microsoft website and they already had a fix for it. Could have saved me a bunch of time. I guess that's why I fix aircraft and not computers. :confused:

It's prolly 8.0.

Also, you can uninstall it and tell automatic updates to ignore that update in the future.

Do you get an error message of any type? Go to the Control Panel --> Internet Options. Go to the Advanced Tab and hit the reset button. See what the heck happens. Vista is really buggy and is a bear when things suddenly don't work right.

X2 Vista isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Its people who dont know what they are doing that mouth it all the time. I have worked in the IT area for about 4 years now and have a degree in Information System Tech so I do have a pretty good understanding on what I'm talking about. The new windows 7 is pretty tight though, its really light weight and don't need a Ferrari of a computer to run it. I would just download firefox on another computer then install that on yours. Its a whole lot better browser and if you are dead set on using IE uninstall and reinstall it. IF that doesnt fix it chances are you have a virus of some sort. let us know how it goes.

OHH YEAH I've heard of this problem. You need to go to your internet history and delete the gay porn that you have been viewing. It should work like a champ after that. It's called the Gaids virus.....It's a real poop stain to fix.

Problem with laptop is non-gay porn related. Thanks though :)

Lawl.

Are you on a wireless setup?

If so, try using a hardline and see if that works.. could just be your router.:chinese:
