Wake Up that 250ex !! by installing a 102 main jet ( works great at sea level as well as in the mountains) Remove factory exaust end cap and cut the baffle out with a hack saw... Dont forget to weld the spark arrester screen back in and reinstall end cap... Remove the rear shock and install one Front Yellow Banchee shock ( yes banchee ) on the rear... This thing rides soo nice with a 160 lb rider (Trails and Sand) Not sure if the shock would hold up on a 6 ft jump !! With normal use this combo makes this thing ride soo much better than stock !! ENJOY

yes it does. Such a cheap mod with a great result. If you really want to make it ride better do the diamond J kit:eek2:
I just did the XR200 carb and it runs much smother but I think with the correct intake manifold it would really improve the power.

hey samm250ex you said you have done the xr200 carb mod and it runs smoother.....what about performance? just wondering does it actually make a noticable improvement in acceleration? did you change the main jet or anything to see if you could get more power out of it?

just curious, i'd like to try it out but don't want to invest all the time and money if it doesn't really change anything.

samm250ex, did you remove the air box lid or change the intake or just the muffler mods ?

you said yellow shock ? is there a difference in the years for the banshee front shock that will fit ?

was there any modifications needed for the shock or is it a straight change out?

thanks

I used the original stock carb ... but installed a 102 main jet. I used a yellow shock (only other one is a white but I think they are the same) When using the Banchee shock I used a couple of flat washers to center the shock in the mounting bolts. I used the original air box with lid removed and installed because of rain ( We rust here in oregon) Didnt see much of a dif on or off. But she sure runs great !! I also have an older 300ex and with these mods the 250 keeps up on the trails in the mountains..... Enjoy

it wont be this weekend, I have to find a banshee shock and then I will stop by honda shop (about 30 min drive) to pick up the main jet
its for my wifes quad so I'm not in any hurry

I will need to finish it by halloween for the next dune trip

but here is a pictue of the quad as it sets
'08 250ex blingstar graphics and 6" wider (motor is stock)

jeeze, if i ever want to rob somthin im gonna have to go to your garage:p

what do you plan to do motor wise?

I want to keep it pretty reliable so I dont have to do alot of maint.

I have enough with just oil changes, air filters and valve/compression adjustments

my wife does real well at the dunes and she isnt an aggressive rider but if I could boost performance just a little so it would climb the larger dunes a little easier it would be nice

im thinking if I lose the lid and add a slip on and rejet along with the banshee shock it should be good to go

I havnt been able to put a car in my garage for a while
(had to build a shelf to stack the quads for more room)

I am an electrician so break in at your own risk, I keep my guns loaded and im the proud owner of a 140 pound great perinese and a still growing 120 pound akita
here is a picture of "boomer" he is almost 9 months old

here is the shelf, it was the only way to fit everything in the garage after I made the kids the 30'X8' half pipe to board on

have sold and bought couple different toys since this picture

Forget the slip on... I have talked to others that have installed them and say their not worth the big money.... Just remove the tip and cut it with a hack saw from the inside.. Looks great sounds super ( had it tested by local law and it still falls into (sound) spec's for the tree huggers !!

i dnt understand the cut pipe. can you post pictures.?
will a NGK spark plug, deleted air box and 92 octane improve power too.?

Sorry I have no way to get pics... However if you remove the 3 bolts that hold the baffle (end cap) on the stock muffler and cut it with a hack saw just inside on the end cap. It will give less restriction of exaust flow..... NGK plugs are great but dont forget to rejet the carb especialy if you run a deleted air box !!

so you leave the end cap off the exhaust???

Do not leave the endcap off the system.... After you cut the endcap as described.... You reinstall the cut end cap that is about 3 inch. shorter......
