I have a bone stock 400 and am looking to rebuild. Is a 416 the most reliable/ best performing setup? What octane do i need to run with a 11:1 piston? Thanks

i run 93 with that setup and its fine.

the bigger the bore the less reliable its going to be IMO but the 416 is a good Power to reliability ratio. there are many people on this forum with 416 kits probably one of the most popular bores. i suggest getting a cam with that to either a stg 1 or 2

I like my 416 very much, there can always be a better performing or more reliable motor builds, but i have to say like my 416 i have now better than my 11:1 440 i had before. I say go for it, its a great combo and like brian said throw a cam in too, maybe some head studs and a crf timing chain, that will help with the reliability issue.

ok thanks for the help guys. Hypersnyper, how do you like your e series? How noticeable was the power difference from stock? If i go that route i will probably just get the slip on
Thanks
