A 416 or 426 would be a good choice with the hotcam stg2. You can also add a FCR carb later on for more power.

i love my 416. it runs hard low and mid with the stage 1, i would like to try the stage 2 just to see how it does. steve

i did a 426 motor on my bestfriend quad and the thing is wicked reliable, and fast. the problem with the 440 is over heating and reliablility and longevity a buddy of mine has gone through 2 jugs and a crap loud of gaskets cause of over heating. Id say do the 426 it will keep up with a 450 its just that the suspension is outdated.

I have a 440ex. It also has a stage 2 cam, K&N, and full FMF exhaust, jet etc. I ride trails almost 100% of the time. If your looking for low end torque, the 440 kit is the way to go. The front end comes up in 3rd gear. It is faster than my buddies 450r off the line all day. Not only is the low end torque amazing, but the top end is good too. I ride very hard and I have never had a problem with the engine, it's been a 440 for almost 4 years now.

JE 89MM HI-COMP PISTON WILL GIVE YOU RELIABILITY AND A TON OF TORQUE.

I ran a 440ex with stage 2 and a full WB exhaust for a long time. Never overheated once. I bought some shrouds to help it cool. I never got beat by another 400ex the 450's on the other hand are another story. :)

a 406 bores to 40 over, a 416 bores to 80 over and 426 is 120 over. My friend got his cylinder re-sleeved, just to bore it to the max. I don't understand it, I've ridden a 406 with the rest of "right" mods done to it, a 416 and 426. I didn't see much difference. I've had 250r cylinders bored from 40 over to 120 over, the difference wasn't huge either. It just seams a waste of the cylinder to bore it bigger than it needs.

I have a 406 its great. A lot better throttle response it seems than before.
