Just looked at a 450r today...

Heres what it has:
Full Pro armor skids
K&N
Dynojetted
AC nerfs

Used to be raced by the previous owner, yet still in really nice condition.

He'll take $2500 (US)

Sound like a good deal?

If everything looks good on it still and its maintaned well and no cracks in frame and just the usuall checking places look good id say its a good deal...depends what you plan to do with it....if you plan on building it with suspension and stuff then id say go and buy a used bike for 4k or 5k that has 10k-15k worth of parts in it...That would save you alot in the longrun imo.

Not planning on doing much to it... just a pipe and cam for the usual trail rider.

Would it be worth the extra $700+ for an 06?

Well the only reason I ask is because I hear that the 06+ has an"overhauled" engine compared to the 04 and 05. Wikipedia says the 04-05 has 33hp and 06+ has over 40.... The power I felt on the 04 when I rode it was just a little more than my 400ex (or atleast I was expecting more). But how much of a difference will I feel with a pipe and cam?

yes the 06 + has more horsepower, and less torque though. Look at the difference in torque the longer stroke has on the 04-05 model.

I have raced many 06 and newer hrc'd or not I can take them everytime.

Many like the newer power delivery better, and thorter gearing. Im use to mine now, yes it is harder to ride and takes many hours to get faster and faster on whichever you prefer.

But gettting back to what I meant here Torque gets you moving, horsepower is more for topend so to speak.

Just my opinion I know other's will disagree, I just had to reply on this one.
