Im rebuilding my 04 450r. The bearings did NOT go out or anything but while i have the motor out of the bike to get a top end and a few gaskets I figured Id get the mod before i blew my cases out. WHere do I get it? How do i install it? thanks

you need a new crank, the new cranks have the update, goes together same as old, but now there are two collars on the one side of the crank, the one is the same as before, the inner race for the bearing and then the other it pressed onto the crank after that one and holds it from moving

I was under the impression that all you would need is the collars if my current crank are still within spec and in good shape? This is not a possiblity?? Thanks

i dont think you can buy just the collar, i checked service honda and the microfishe doesnt show the new crank but the update number is there but i doubt you can just get that collar

According to PITTMANSPOWERSPORTS, Honda now makes a crank kit for the 04-05 450r motors; part number 13090-hp1-315, the kit includes the crank, bearings, a new collar, and a larger seal to accomadate this new collar. You can also just order the seal and collar seperately if you want to avoid this happening to you with part numbers 91202-hp1-672, and 91202-hp1-671.
Got that info off of trx450r dot org
