Almost done with my first 250R build. Don't mind the blue tank and shocks just waiting on a tank cover and have new shocks just haven't put them on yet. Still needs some tweaking but 99% done. Like I said my FIRST build so take it easy on me ok. This is what it started as.

Like I said before this is my first ever build so I know it's not gonna be perfect. Still need some small stuff and need to tweak some stuff. Motor is completely stock as far as porting and bore goes (For now anyways). ESR pipe and 38 mm A/S, Twin air filter no lid. LSR +2 a-arms, stock swinger and axle, Maier Plastic, Quadtech seat cover, Pro Taper bars. More to come just ran out of money.

I know alot of people will think I should have left it stock but thats not what I wanted. As much as I like a clean stock 250R I wanted something more.

It was pretty clean when I bought it but it looks alot nicer in the pics than it did close up. The frame was in rough shape. No cracks but alot of chips and rust spots.

Thanks. Still have some stuff to do to it but it's 90% done. I live in Lynn but have a house in Maine and do 99% of my riding there.

Are you selling any of the stuff you took off ?

I would like to see a break-down of the number of red and blue 250R's produced in 86-87. I think 86 was about a 50-50 split, but blue 87's seem a little more rare.

I rarely give any negative opinions, and the final product is cool, buut. I too thought you were done restoring a rare blue '87TRX, and said to myself "sweet", but then cringed when I scrolled down! I'm in the process of restoring an'87 R currently, and yes the '87 build #s are quite low. That one would have saved me about 3K. I realize it's what you had to work with and you just wanted something different. I would have loved to buy your bike, and then all that powder coating could have been done to a $900 worn R. I'm just frustrated I guess, sorry! That TRX was sweet for it's age! Oh well, another original bites the dust. That just brings up the value of the ever fewer originals left. Your project did turn out very nice though! Great work and attention to detail! Please don't be offended I'm just a lush for the fresh out of the crate looking original! Good job!!

Here's a few of mine.

Yeah I'm gonna have to jump on the "shoulda kept it original" bandwagon.

I understand where your coming from. Trust me there's nothing better than a mint stock 250R but like I said before mine was far from mint. The pics make it look alot nicer than it actually was. If I could afford to have more than 1 quad I would have kept it stock and built a different one but with 2 daughters both going to private schools my budget only affords me 1.
