Could any of you guys give me the run-down on this procedure? Also, what internal parts should be replaced?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm having the calipers powdercoated and they have to be disassembled.

Thanks in advance,

David

front or rear? What quad? Also i think it would be a huge help if u had a clymer manual. I looked through it and they have very detailed info and pics about brake rebuilds, assembly and disassembly.

Err, I guess that info. would help. Front & rear, for a 250R. I've got a Clymer, but I don't feel like walking out there to get it. Just looking for some 1st hand experience.

ahh anyone can dissamble ...
rebuild is the HARD part!
if pistons are lookin rough replace em..
best to get all new seals & slider pins ..
if boots are bad replace em..
new sealing washers for banjos are a good idea also ..
rears have a lil o ring at brake parking piston ..replace it also ...

it can be tricky if ya nevr did it before

Do you recommend me letting someone else, with a little more experience do it?

well this depends on your patience ,confidence & abilities
experience definitely helps on this one

Make sure you check the cylinder in the caliper, it might not hurt to mic it out while you're at it and if necessary get a rebuild kit and hone out the caliper. If you can get a rebuild kit that is.

Well, I've put a new left case 1/2 on and went all the way through the motor, but that's little simple stuff. I'm sure the calipers aren't any harder, but I don't want to screw something up. Any pointers?

the fronts were a breeze for me, and the rear was simple also but my lil o-ring has seemed to have swelled up or something. So imordering a new one.
new pistons are EXPENSIVE ($20 each), I had to buy 3 of them!
anything that looks worn, replace it.
