A disc-type muffler would perform like you are requesting. However, every time you make the switch between quiet and obnoxious, you'll have to re-jet accordingly.

I ride with two people who have 300's, they run a fmf megamax. There not two loud + they are also a tunable disc system. They love them.

i don't think you will be able to find a pipe that is as quiet as stock. i have heard megamax's and T-4's on a 400ex and they are both quite louder than stock. i would say you can make the megamax quieter than the T-4 with the discs but i have raced people with both these pipes and beat them with my stock bike. most people around here get pipes and either don't jet or just take a guess at what jet they need. i fine tune my jetting. this allows me to be faster than them throughout the power range with a stock pipe. i change jets as the temp. changes.

ok i had another idea instead of getting a new complete system what about a slip on that i could change out real easy. whats the best slip on and noise is NOT a concern if its a slip on.

def dont get a slip on especially for a 300 since it is dieing and needs to breathe so badly, that would be really dumb since the header is really keeping all the air back, the 300 is really responsive to a pipe, dont ruin it, go for a complete t-4, yoshi or wb, and be done with it, yoshi is awesome becasue u can get things that make it louder, not all pipes have discs, discs are not always good, just do what i said, if ya got the money go for a yoshi otherwise go for a t-4 period! anything is better than DG exhaust...except stockt, dont be dumb and just put a slip on, on....no flame intended, godd luck

well the thing is i can't have anything loud at my house. but if i go anywhere else then it doesn't matter about sound. so i was wanting something i can make quiet at my house and louder when i go ride somewhere, that way i don't have to switch back to the stock pipe when i want to ride at my house.

I'm gonna have to reccomend the Yoshimura system. Their quiet cores are more effective than any other company's and they also lose less performance. or you could wait for the new E2 from WB to come out. it's supposed to be quieter than the other pipes and still put out decent power.

how much would a yoshi system cost?

This past christmas i bought my self a CT-Racing pipe adn let me tell you this pipe is sicker then **** my friends. From stock it addeds maybe 20 M.P.H. to top and end and still adds alot of grunt on the bottom, it normally come with a open tip, but included with it is a silencer and disc spark arrestor which puts about 10 M.P.H. top end and lots of grunt bottom end.

That would be impossible to gain speed from an exhaust. In order to get higher speeds you would have to change the sprockets.

ya i know, especially 10 seconds, maybe if u were dgagging and u were 10 seconds faster but not top speed....the yoshi system like mine was 420$ full system from www.moto-frugals.com i think, best deal i could find, maybe rockymountain is better? anyway u can by something for the pipe called a T.E.C. kit, it is 2 scilencers w/spark arresters that make it quieter, the t.e.c kit is like 30$ but the pipe is awesome sounding and works for all ends, that is why it is the best out...sayts dirtwheels, and i tried a wb and wasnt nearly as god, on a nother 300ex that is, o ya get the one called the "comp series" (competition) it is stainless steel...the cheapest out of all yoshis, the other yoshis are just very lite, but the comp one is light enough

300EXrider02

not added spped, like going from 55 mph to 65 mph, its impossible, u need to change the sprokets

They will add speed, but nothing like the sprockets add. They have to atleast add 3-8 miles per hour.
