125 dirt bike

what would be the top speed of a 125 dirt bike?

depends on alot of things...the rider, the type of bike(what make sorta) modifications done to it, and type of terrain.....i have easily gotten my yz125 w/all the stuff in my sig to go about 65mph in 4th gear(when i wasnt even shifting at the high rpms i should have been).....

and i have raced my yz against a ttr-125(4 stroke 125) and easily beat him off the line and throughout the field(raced in a flat corn field)...other crushed competition-1992 250x, 2002 Rancher es, Bombarier Ralley, and an xr100 and xr80.....

a new cr 125 will do 65-75

I was just wondering because my brother wants to get a dirt bike that is at least 10 years old and he thinks a 125 will do 75-80mph. Couple of the bikes he was looking at was a 1989 Kawasaki 125 liquid cooled and a 1983 Suzuki RM-500. I guess he's looking on a wide power range.:D

it'll do 75-80 w/ the right gearing......it might take him a mile or 2 to get there tho,lol:D my kart will do 110 w/ a cr125 on it,when its all set-up for it,just tell him its not to practical and unless he plans on baja/desert racing and not to be concerned about it.....especially w/ a 125:rolleyes: ;)

i know, but that is about it for the competition out here...well there is a kid that has a warrior, but he never rides anymore, and then there is an RM250, which i know he could kick my arse:D

yeah they are fast compared to quads but to another 125 the cr125 is slow

Whats the fastest out of the 2-stroke 125s. Also what is the best out of them. I dont know much about dirt bikes and id like to learn.

The best 2 bikes to get are the Honda CR125 or the Yamaha YZ125... As for topend speed it depends what the gearing is... Most bikes will do around 60mph to 65mph.... But like i said its all in the gearing... These two bikes are the best in my opinion... They have great suspension and motors are not to bad... The YZ has a little faster motor than the CR but the suspension makes up for that...

The fastest 125 class bike isnt a 125, or a two stroke lol its the 250f. The fastest TRUE 125 is the KTM. The Yamaha is after that. The KTM and the YZ have the same amount of power excpet the KTM has more over-rev.

here is how i most often see the 125cc class ranked
1. yz250f
2. ktm 125sx
3. yz125, rm125, kx125
4. cr125 (great handling just way too slow)

The only thing i didnt like about the KTM is that it doesn't corner in berms real well and the suspension needed to have a little work... Whoops were kinda harsh and a few jumps... I just rode one this weekend at the track...

O i heard that ktm won. The subframe on my ktm was cut and then welded by a porfessional do it sits lower in the rear. This makes it easier going into turns.

my old 125 would put all the 125s and 250fs to shame :eek:

fully worked 167:p 41 hp great motor not worth all the dough...just buy a 250

per dirt wheels 125 mx bike do between 66-69 depending on make, 250s will 77(my 9 yz250)

the yz426f did 87 the new yzf450 prob does low 80's since they dropped 5th and changed gearing
