The still available pipes that come to mind for the XR650L are the XR's Only (might be full system only, not sure), FMF Q4, Supertrapp (disk style that can burn the turn signal and rear fender if not guarded), Pro Circuit T-4, and FMF Q4. The XR's Only and Pro Circuit will need quite core inserts to keep the sound down. I have no idea which among those choices are preferred or what other choices there might be. I bet any slip-on for an XR600 will bolt up.

If I had an XR650L, I'd be tempted to just order up an FMF Q4 (i.e. designed to be pretty quiet from the get-go, readily available, and looks nice).

As far as complimentary mods, check out "Dave's mods". http://www.4strokes.com/tech/honda/xr650lcarbmods/ From what I'm told, it's a must do on all XR650L's. Also, ditch the airbox "snorkle" and upgrade the filter (I like UNI's).

If interested, the smog equipment can be removed with a block off kit. That will shed weight and probably reduce popping on deceleration but isn't likely to do anything performance-wise.
