If your parents sign the release form saying the government now owns you. :p Don't get yourself hurt though. My girlfriends dad knows two people who broke a bone while on there home visit and got sued for "destruction of government property"... And that's no joke. I was about 2 days from signing my papers when I had my ACL injury now I can't join until next summer...

The youngest you can be is 17 with a signing from your parents.

17 with parent consent. I know people graduating early in high school to join the Marines.

Yep. You can't join if you were diagnosed with asthma after your 13th birthday though.

That's waiverable; I was a drill sergeant from 1999-2002 and had tons of trainee's with asthma.

Some recruiters wouldn't even talk to me after I told them I had it. I was also told to take this test, I forget what it was called and it told you if you still had it or not. Not sure but I got lied to and fed bs by most recruiters.:ermm:

That happens, also if you still wanted to join and catch a recruiter rolling a doughnut (not put anyone in for that particular month) then they'd find a waiver for damn near anything!

I do not envy recruiters at all. I volunteered to be a drill sergeant so I wouldn't have to be a recruiter.

I work for the government and unlike some Americans (not all); I still have a job during these tough times. Neither my benefits nor my pay have been cut.

I will also be eligible for retirement at age 39.

Not all government jobs are bad and not everybody is willing to put up with what I have put up with for the past 19 years.

2 c-sections = $50
3 years of orthodontic braces = free
19 years of free medical care for my whole family

More than 4 years of the past 19 away from my family.....
