I was putting in new plates and fibers. My manual just says to tighten them evenly. Do they bottom out on the basket? then is there a foot pound rating? My book just says in the first table that a 10mm bolt should be 26 foot pounds. Well I had my torq wrench set and ended up braking a bolt before I hit 26lbs??? It may have been stressed but I still don't know how tight they should be?

the clutch spring bolts should just be tightened until they are snug. 26 ft/lbs is a LOT for those little bolts. something is wrong there.

I just looked in the shop manual and they do not list a torque spec. I agree with above, 26 lb-ft seems like a lot. I would clean them real good, use some blue loctite, and use about 10 N-m (about 7.4 lb-ft) That is the spec for the M6 bolts on my bike clutch.

i agree with richards, somewhere around 8 ft. lbs. should be fine. 26 is way to much.

X2, There is no torque spec for those bolts. Tighten them until they are snug with a small 1/4" drive ratchet to limit the torque. Go until they bottom out, then just a tiny bit more. The spring pressure will prevent them from loosening on their own, so don't worry about that.

Thanks for all of the help. I just ordered new bolts. Hopefully they wont break on me.
