need help....

trying to replace bearings in stock carrier..the clymer says move center tube to the side and knock out bearing with a drift.my problem is i push tube over and it doesnt give me hardly any room to knock out bearing. anyone have a good method that works?

Depending on if you've bought new bearings or not, I'd suggest just getting a new carrier. They can be had for $100 on ebay. If I remember correctly the bearings for a stock carrier are in the $60 range and are only single row.

The only reason I say this, is I tried replacing bearings in the stock carrier and it was a waste because they were so seized in there you may not be able to get them out. Also the center tube was rusted pretty bad.

Another suggestion is to get a slightly used stock 400ex carrier as they are the same part numbers.
