ticking noise

my motor has ticking noise in it. Kinda like the sound of somebody shaking a spray paint can really fast. motor has been rebuilt twiice and still has it. its been like this for two years with more than 50 races on it and still runs strong. any suggestions on what it is?

My motor is noisey as heck. Valves check right on at .006 intake, .011 exhaust and decompressor at .017. My motor has always sounded the same. I always tell ppl the only thing i can think of is its the cam. I have a hot-cams stage 2. Maybe they are a noisey cam because i have a buddy with an HRC cam and his motor is quiet.

i also have a hotcams stage II and i get the same noise.

its a combination of valve train and piston slap. the ticking noise is pretty normal. if all of your clearances are right then don't worry.

mines a ticker also. had a hcs2 now a webcam. clearances are good,but she just ticks away

yea a lot of people think somethings wrong and they always say i should turn in it off before it locks up lol. I've raced it strong like that for two years without a single problem and probably at its fastest its ever been right now.
