First Quad

Hello, I am looking at buying my first quad. I want to buy a Honda 400EX 2001 or 2002 model. Are they pretty much the same, or is one year better than the other. I'm not looking for the fastest thing out there, just a good quad for trail riding. Thanks

great first quad. they are both the sam model. i had an 04 (sam as the 99-04) ans loved it. i recently switched to a 450r

If u want reverse than go with a 2005 or up.I'm pretty sure 1999-2004 are the same.

Thanks for your reply Guy's. I guess they only changed decals and plastic color from 99-04? I would like to buy an 05 or newer 400EX, but right now it's not possible.

You've picked an excellent quad as your first choice. Reliable, Good performance, and probably one of the most "Modifiable" quads there is.
The 400ex can be fine tuned to be everything from a Race bike, to a Trail bike, to a Sport/utility bike.
