Do you guys use anything special for a ring compressor? The band-style I've been able to find are all over my bore diameter.

Nothing special for me. I just squeeze the rings in place as I'm putting the cylinder on.

i generally use the bevel on the bottom of the sleeve to squeeze the rings as mentioned above. just be careful

Cool...that's what I figured after running a search and not coming up with anything, figured always better to ask first.

Thanks for the help.

Oh, by the way...do you guys coat the cylinder wall/pin bearing with any special lube prior to assembly/break-in??

Something else that might help you, I used this method on my 300ex and can't remember if used it on my R but I'll say it anyways.

Get a clean piece of plywood or something similar, cut a notch in it that'll straddle the connecting rod and slide it over the bottom end. The piston skirt will sit on it and let you focus your attention on sliding the cylinder on instead of trying to hold the wobbly piston plus the cylinder all the while trying to keep the rings lined up correctly.
