why do you want a loud pipe? loud pipes shut down ride areas and they are not neccessarly the best performing

ya TC shortys are suuuuuper loud. But most serious riders look down on loud pipes. Anywhere from 98-102DB is usually cool though.

Loud pipes aren't cool. I have a tc shorty, I took off his end and put on supertrapp discs, I think 11, its 96.3. As others said, loud just ruins riding spots. Where I ride sometimes, there are some guys with really loud pipes, I can hear them 5 minutes before I can see them. I have spoke to the rangers out there and really hunt for those guys. Those guys are the ones who cause complaints to the police. The rangers don't want to come out there and bust everybody for riding(no atv's or unreg/ins/inspect dirtbikes allowed), when they get complaints they have to and they would rather just leave them alone and let them ride. No noise complaints and bad user interactions and the rangers don't care if you are there, they hate busting people, half of them ride also and know how bad it is.

a loud pipe will not make up for a small package!!...in other words grow up and show some responsibility in our riding areas

So if what you are saying is right, then cobra pipes put out the most power?

Loud doesn't equal fast or powerful alot of times. A pipe with blown out packing, it may sound loud, put its actually down on power compared to freshly packed one. Dyno results show that a freshly packed pipe consistantly makes more power, you can have up to 8hp difference between blown out packing and freshly packed, well depending on model of atv and pipe. Curtis sparks pipes may be loud, they make power due to alot of testing with header length, bends, pipe diameter and specs of the silencer. The same applies to them, a blown out packing will make considerably less power.

why do u want it louder it gets really annoying when people think the louder it is the faster let me tell u something its not how loud it is or how fast it is well partly how fast the bike is but how u ride the bike i win alot of races by just concentrating and not going as fast as i can

The loudest pipe I ever had was a supertrapp on my YFZ450. It was so loud it would hurt your ears. I hated it. As far as the best sound, I had a raptor 660 with a DMC Alien dual exhaust. It wasn't loud, it just sounded badass, very deep.

supertrapps are tunable and sound can vary alot with them, depending on the number of discs, end caps or that really loud TC end cap. I have tc shorty on my hybrid, I put a standard cap and something like 10 discs on it, it passes 96 decibels. If I put the tc end cap on, its really loud. If you guys didn't know, a tc shorty is nothing but a 350x or 250x supertrapp shorty silencer, 350x mid pipe looks very similar, he does some bends on the mid and head pipe and get his own end cap machined. He uses mostly stock headpipes, just bend, cuts and rewelds them to match the supertrapp. Why he charges $600+ is beyond me?

If you want INSANELY LOUD buy any performance muffler. Then replace the exhaust core with a pipe. If you have a 2" exhaust core find a 2" pipe and replace the core with it. If you have a 1.75" core replace it with a 1.75" pipe. If you have a 2.25" core replace it with a 2.25 pipe". Exhaust flex pipe works good because its thin like the normal core and light weight. As long as you replace the core with the same size pipe you will keep the same power but be as loud as running no muffler but put out a lot better exhaust note than just running no packing.

Reason replacing the core with a pipe makes it so loud is because the only difference between a exhaust core and pipe is that the exhaust core has thousands of holes in it for the sound to travel threw and into the packing. When you replace the core with a pipe the sound can no longer reach the packing because theres no holes in it. And its very easy to do.

And you will then always have the power of a freshly packed pipe then and no need to buy packing any more.
