I have read that the ex axle will work in the R with the R components except for the hubs.

Are they the same length as an R though? Is a +4 ex axle the same length as a +4 R axle?

Thanks

with the correct hubs, yes. 250r/350x hubs are flat, 300ex/400ex/450r/86-87 200x are ~1" offset(extended). To use the 400ex axle, you can't use a anti-fade and you must use the 400ex axle locknut. Even though they are the same spline, 250r, 300ex, 350x, 400ex and 450r, the axle c-clips are in a different position.

I used a 400ex axle and hubs, thats it. My R antifade fit fine

the ex hubs won't fit on the 250r axle. most honda's are 24 spline and 250r/350x is 25 spline.

I have an RPM axle on my R and I ended up using 400EX, Hubs, anti-fade, rotor and caliper.

if i compared a 400ex with a +4 axle and a 250r with a +4 axle, which would be wider? can i gain an inch by using the 400ex set up because of the ofset on the hubs???

I do not believe so, the 250r axle is longer due to the different style hubs. Everybody I knew with a 400ex +4 axle was right at 48 or 49, my 250r's are right about on that also. If you get the extended hubs from rockymountain, now you will be wider, but remember its just like spacers, can lead to quickly axle bending.
