Assuming that I can attach this in Linux the picture is of the head I just got. The intake port is what worries me.
Is this a casting defect? A failed attempt at backyard porting? Should I return this head for a refund or send it to be ported?

I don't have to wonder. Turns out the vendor on eBay is way cool. I got it from GDH racing and when I expressed concern I was told to ship it back and it would be exchanged. To easy. Puts the build on hold, but rather be safe than sorry.
While I am talking. Who do you all recommend to do my porting? I have a company in mind, but am open to suggestion. If you have experience with a good company or person, let me know.

I order from GDH racing all the time.. and anytime i ever have issues... he fixes them right away. Great place to get decent oem 300ex parts. I think you could have used it. but you are the one paying for it. I had ordered a head from him,, when i got it the valves were apart (keepers gone) i told him about it. He sent another right away.

I wasn't sure if it was a problem or not. Didn't want to bother sending it back if it wasn't. But what the heck, might as well be safe. Other than the flaw that head looked brand new.
I've bought quite a bit of stuff from GDH, it has all been top shelf. I hope he keeps steering stems in stock. It seems that about every 8 or 9 months he gets to sell me one,,,,,,
