i have a problem with my clutch cable. it runs right through the headers, and i guess from the heat, its melting the cable. i wrapped it in tape and it didnt help too much. what can i do?

im not kidding lol. i did cuz before it was rubbing up against the header. now it just goes right through the middle. does yours run through the same way?

OK, I just went and looked at mine.

on the forward, right, engine mount.
on the upper bolt.
there is supposed to be a stiff wire bracket that keeps the clutch cable from rubbing on the header pipe.

Is yours bent or missing?

im really not sure. i keep it at my work so i can check tomorrow. if it runs through that it keeps it a pretty good distance away from the header?

replace it with a 250x clutch cable. heres a picture of how that will route. dirty, but you get the idea.

Where were you when I bought a new 400ex one a few weeks ago!!!?! haha I'll keep that in mind when I need one...that looks like a far better route.

Mine had burnt from the headers once as well. I had it twisted in an odd way after reinstalling. But the bracket that it goes through really helps. Mine still goes through the middle of the headers, no problem
