Hi all, So my 80 was running fine then started to bog and act like the power was cut in half. I popped off the clutch cover and saw shavings. Got it home and saw that the rear fixed face drive was hitting the case and thus creating the shavings.

Got everything off and yup it was in the case. It was also (the face drive) cracked in the center circle on both sides, small cracks. The center circle also was not smooth but somewhat rough. everything else seems ok on the clutch... although the screw heads behind it are a little worn.

So any thoughts as to what I will need or what is wrong?

Any help is appreciated as I am not all that great with these things!

Transmission 2.
#2 is the fixxed face. This is the part you need.
#7 is the movable face.

This place has the best prices I've seen on the net.

You should inspect the bearings. They go bad.
Check the seals and o-rings on the movable face.

BTW, the face comming off is a rare but I've seen it before.

So I need both the fixed and movable?

The bearings feel a little notchey... is that normal or should they come out?

Never mind on the which one I need... re-read the post. Info on the bearings would be great though!

The bearings are scrap. I replace alot of those.
FYI: to get the small brg out, you take a screwdriver or the like and put it thru the small brg and whack out the big brg.
The small brg is held in with a clip way down in there. :)

Here is the parts list I am gathering I need from our discussion...
Face, Fixed drive
#4 bearing
#5 Circlup
#6 Bearing
#8 Oil Seal (Just in case)
#9 O Ring (just in case)

Should I also get
# 26 and 27 bearings?

You shouldn't need #5 the old one should be fine. But for a cpl bucks, maybe not a bad idea.
You don't need the #26 & #27 bearings, they are in the gearbox and seem to last forever.
FYI: there are 2 o-rings and 2 seals. :)

While ordering, you may consider getting new rollers for the front clutch. Might as well get the lil plate that covers the rollers also (#3 in trans 1).

what is the trick to taking the whole thing apart? How do I open up the clutch etc?

If you look close on the sliding part, There is a thin collar. You grab that and twist. It'll come off. It is tight as tghat's what the o-rings press against.
Careful the 3 lil pegs that the sliding part rides on may fall out. :)

Is there a trick to this one? I had a hell of a time trying to get the C-clip out. Finally did, but wouldn't want to do it the same way again.

Emanon...there used to be a band here in Kissimmee that we see and had your name (or should I say "No Name") ;)
