I was just going through some old pictures I had and came across this one. This is a group of riders in my area that call themselves "Road Hazards" and He was doing a stand up burn out and I guess gas leaked out of the air box and caught fire with the back tire and blazed up. He caught his self on fire also! That is a classic photo. Stupid Raptor!

In there defense that group is probably one of the BEST I have ever seen riding freestyle. They are better on street bikes.

hehe i was doing a brake stand like that, but i was just hangin my tubby arse over the bars. poored some beer all over the tires and stuff and blazed the stockers up for about 50 seconds or so. hehe i pissed off the neighbors, oh well my parents place is outa city limits..hehe it was on xmas eve too lol. it's just bad news to introduce whiskey into any black family event. we were having races in the field, had a fire in the back yard and doing brake stands in the garage. oh well at least the spud guns and firearms stayed put away for once.

damn rednecks.

oh yeah we were all trying to do trials riding on my old diamondback mt bike in the barn on some hay bails we setup in the barn too hehe, that was fun.

Man wanted to light my 01 craptor on fire so many times it is like good theropy(sp?) to watch it burn ! , man would hate to get that bike on resale, only used to burn out on dry pavement, the tranny is going to blow up in his face!:D

That was a very nice Raptor, if they got it fixed back up and wanted to sell it, I'd buy it for sure, I love Raptors, there so awesome.

i know that guy, i went to high school and played football with him a few years ago. He used to race 400ex's and was sponsored by Honda. He won some kind of competition down in florida when he raced for them in high school. I guarantee none of those that have posted disrespecting comments on here are as good on an atv or street bike as he is. For a stunt show it is best to have a sport quad with tons of power, the stock 400ex doesn't have it, but the raptor does. his raptor has the stock bore and compression, unless he has changed it recently.


how come all the people in honda sites diss the raptor like it is garbage, its not, in today's world the 400ex is outdated, you don't often see it compared to the raptor, predator, or cannondale b/c its just not on their level. yes it has somewhat better handling than the raptor, but the power difference is not comparable. Of those who disagree with my "opinion", why are the prices dropping so much on the 400ex, and why are there so many people that cream their pants every time they hear a rumor of a new honda sport quad(for the past year or two)?? I have a friend that has a 400ex. Yes it's realiable and the handling doesn't require as much body english as the raptor. His 400ex is piped and jetted w/ K&N and it still doesnt come close to being as fast as a stock raptor.

different quads perform better at different things, i think the raptor is better than the z400 and 400ex at trail riding, which is what i mostly do, due to it's enormous amount of torque. Numerous amounts of the new buyers of sport quads are choosing the z-400 over the 400ex, it has reverse, more technology in it, and more power.

I am not trying to start an arguement, i just wish people would stop being so brand loyal. The Honda 400ex is not the best overall quad available, nor do i think the raptor or z-400 are the best overall.

i bought my LE 2003 raptor for 6,000 OTD, i would much rather pay this for a 660cc quad (raptor) that has so much more potential, than 5,200 for a 400ex or 5600 for a z400.

yea man, i think the same way...just cuz i ride honda doesnt mean raptors are crap....they are known for tranny problems but there is always something wrong on a brand new commer quad...i think raptors are pretty awsome and can be sweet with some suspension mods...

blastersrule- im guessing if power doesn't matter to you, a slow pace does. what kind of atv do you have? and a great frame design isn't everything either, im sure my raptor doesn't have the best frame geometry,it does have power and tons of torque, but someone can make a raptor more stable by simply adding different tires, and wheel spacers. but for the type of riding i do i dont feel like i need wheel spacers or wider axle.

Are we really gonna go thru this again? :grr

c'mon guys there all great when they start right up and dont give you any problems, and they all stink when you get totally ripped off buying the parts that just broke.

Raptors are fine and we all know where they are good and bad by now and you cant deny the extra allmost 60% more cc's make some hp, maybe not allways useable hp but its still there.

So lets move on to something a little more interesting :)

i don't see many sport quads where i ride, but today there was a guy on a 440EX.

my stock raptor has: full PRM skids, removed the spark arrestor for sound(no added power).

his quad: big bore 440EX, yoshi pipe, thats all i know, i didn't ask him much about it.

we both weigh about the same, but he has more experience than me. he wanted to race me to see how much his mods helped the performance of his quad, so i agreed, of course. He said he had raced a stock raptor when his was stock.

we go, and on the start i wheelied and had to let off the gas some, but for the first couple of gears it was real close, but as i had switched to third i was pulling ahead and didn't see him beside me again after that. I continued to pull ahead to the top of fourth which i reached as i crossed the place we were racing to. i am not really sure how much i beat him by but it wasn't a lot, i would guess 2 bike lenghts, maybe 3. i thought it was a good race, i had fun, its the first competition i have seen from a quad, mostly 4x4's around here.

how do most 440's compare to raptor's?? stock and modded??????
when we were talkin bout racing i thought i was gonna get left behind after i saw the big bore sticker and the yoshi pipe. I think if he added an aftermarket cam(i dont think he had), he may be able to take me, i beat him mostly with the mid to upper range.

he could ride a wheelie pretty good, so can one of my friends that has a 400ex, i've had my raptor for like 3 months and i still can't maintain a wheelie, longest one i've done was through first and second gear, but it was on accident when i was racing an xr650. but i'm gettin better at it, i just can't find the balance point. i do them sitting down and leaning back, but i still can't find it.

It was running 10 minutes after it caught fire. It was mostly the seat and him that was on fire. You can see that he has not got the seat on it in this picture.

well, i will agree, with the proper MX mods, i would think the raptor could whoop up in the Open class, but maybe not, who knows, the raptor has more potential, is fsater, and will always be faster than a 400ex, who gives a f*ck, get a bansee, and rip the Raptor apart

i think that the raptors are good for power and there good for jumpin and i also like that 400ex...its all a choice of preference.
