piston side or opposite of piston? the 400 runs only one shim in the rear. when dissasembling i forgot to look. i think its on the left hand brake pad or the side closet to the piston but not sure

it is not a shim butit is a thin piece of metal. that helps to protect the pads from the piston i guess that is the best way to describe it. steve

just curious because my new pads didnt have one
and those were veserh
i will not buy those again just plain JUNK
i only got 4 rides out of my backs and they were gone metal to metal
so im hoping the new ebc reds will do much better
hell the stock pads lasted 8 years
not 4 rides
and should i look for a new shim is it a nessaity?
thanks all

i am not sure if it is a neccessity but it would probably be good to have. if you still have your stock pads check to see if it is on them or on others. it clips onto the pad sortof just to help with the pressure on the piston and to help have another barrier incase it goes through the pad and is metal on metal. it is number 13 on the schematic. steve
