we have recently gutted my brothers 05 yfz450 wiring harness. we went threw wire threw wire and eliminated all the extra wires since he got rid of his batt, head light, tail light, ect. now my question is, is there any way to eliminate the bulky kill button/lights on off switch?? i wasn't sure if i could hook up a aftermarket kill button like the dirtbikes run. does anyone make or have any ideas on how we can get rid of this horrible big @$$ black box on the bars??

ive heard of people running dirtbike button kill switches but i dont know how to convert it. all i know if that the switch now grounds the circut and then shuts the bike down. hopefully that will help you

The factory off switch breaks the circut on the YFZ to kill it. It does not ground it.
This is a very good article to do what you want. I used a starter switch from a WR450F, but Fly has come out with a much better, waterproof, billet alm. switch.

I have one of those aftermarket kill switches. Well, kind of. My stock setup was removed and an aftermarket 'start' button was installed, and the kill switch is now the safety shut off, where you tie the thing to your wrist (MX bike).

Anyway, I would like to put my headlights back on and was wondering how hard it would be to hook up a universal headlight switch, instead of going back to a stock switch or a toggle?

One like this:

i also used a dirtbike kill button for a start button on mine, if u want to run ur lights without a toggle switch or anykind of switch u can wire them on 24/7 that way when u put ur lights on they will stay on, but u wont be able to change them from dim to bright

How did you use a dirtbike kill switch for a start button?

i cut my factory start button/light switch harness at the bars since it was trash anyways, took it apart found the 2 wires that connect to start it and the on/off switch red button and wired it to make it stay on 24/7 the light wires i just pulled them out of the plug in and siliconed the wholes up to keep water out..theres nothing to it

heres a link on how to do it and use a toggle for the lights
