Well, Went riding at sunset ridge yesterday, and all I can say is the only thing I hate is ruts, and the only thing I need to work on are ruts and turning, as for jumping, at the end of the day I hit the 110 foot downhill tripple twice, and then the moto was up! So, I got a lil work to do, but jumping I have down pretty well!

Here's my favorite pics:

finish line table:

Only picture she got of me taking off on the 110' tripple since it was the last lap I rode

You look pretty comfortable on the bike. Nice jump. Every time I have been on 2 wheels it wasn't pretty.

Thanks man, yeah I never use to even try to ride two wheels, but the transition isn't too bad

Doesn't look bad, but tap that rear brake! Looks like you like to fly nose high. What year yzf is that?

cornering is the hardest part about bikes.

coming into a corner. lean down the bike put your foot out only when you need to balance, get your inner buttcheek on the outside of the seat(ex: on a left turn have your left buttcheeck on the top of the right side of the seat) and right when you get back on the throttle bring in your foot.

im still working on it, but the articles some guys wrote up over at thumpertalk helped me alot.

yea check those articles on thumpertalk they help a lot. gary semics writes in there a lot and believe me he knows what hes talking about. if you want to get really good, his movies look like they would help A LOT.

put your foot out and FRONT. keep weight on the outside footpeg. (ex: lefthand turn, left foot out, right foot pushing hard against the right peg.) keep your eyes up, be looking ahead, not at where your front tire is. and, correct me if im wrong, but im pretty sure your inside foot should stay on the peg until you are accelerating:confused:

Haha, thanks for the info guys. It's an 02', picked it up for only 1500$, things minty fresh.

But yeah, On the table top I would pull the front end up, cause I figured it'd make the pic look cool haha. But on the tripple, I came off with alotta gas, and at first almost $hit myself haha.

Thanks for the help though guys, my buddy scott who races A class will be out there to give me a few pointers this upcoming weekend, lots more pics to come!

well i ride on a sandtrack(or will be moving up to it soon) so when you come into the turn you pop your foot out, pin it basically and pull your foot in as fast as possible.

the mistake most people make with dirtbikes is that they either put their foot out too early or they take it in too late(or both). thats what ive been focusing on alot. thats a quote from thumpertalk btw  .

and rutted turns are much easier to come through fast then flat turns. thats where i lose all my speed... along with my confidence :p

That's pretty much about it, but I keep my foot out before I'm accelerating. You want all your braking done before the corner. You also want to stand til the last possible second (easier said than done) and make a smooth transition to sitting and rolling on the throttle. The biggest thing I had to change when going to a 4 stroke was my cornering. I was very aggressive on the 2t's brake sliding in and dropping the clutch. If I do it on the 4t's now I stand myself up in the corners and lose a lot of time. Don't drop the clutch in the corners, slip it, that's what it's there for. Also, draging your front brake in some corners will help to plant the front end a little better. Practice it though. I went down a few times learning that one haha. Coming into corners with braking bumps, drag your rear brake while on the gas to help settle your bike in them and keep from kicking side to side. Those are just a few tips I've learned along the way that might help you guys out.

You can read it all you want, it's just going out and applying it. I still struggle with ruts... so does half of the dirt bike world so you guys aren't the only ones. I'm half decent at corners, but my ruts are so-so.

It took me a while until I was able to do this in corner's and keep it going...
