2006 ltz50

I am working on a 2006 50 quad that wont run well. It will idle but when you start to go it will surge, Run and die off,run and die off. I have the carb out of it now and going to clean but any other ideas what may be going on? Battery is dead but I would think since it has a pull start that would be a non issue.

I agree, battery shouldn't be a part of it, altho, if the stator isn't putting out enough juice, it6'll do the same.
I think the carb cleaning will do it. :)
