This has happened to me twice this week and Ive given up and found my way here to ask for help. Ive had my axle come out twice this week I think because the c-clips popping off? Its just about thrown my chain threw my motor twice and im scared to ride it. Is the clip worn out? or is something bent? I have a lsr swing arm with chain guides, and a lsr axle.

and as im looking for a new c clip, there is 2 different sizes. One is the size of a 400ex one and one is bigger.

hmmm. if the clip is coming out of the groove it could be that the axle nut is work, but try putting a new clip in first. I do not know where you can get one, but i believe they are all the same size.

If the axle nut is tight there is no possible way for the c-clip to come out. There is a washer that goes between the lock nut and the clip that helps keep the clip from coming out of the groove. When the washer is over the clip you should not be able to see the clip

I guess it varies what year and what axle nut he is using. I just looked at 2 of them and they got a washer in there

my axle nut is put on backwards I think? I got rid of my 450r for another 250r and have forgotten alot about them lol. But my 400ex nut is on the other way from my picture. So what do I do if my clip is so big it doesnt go inside the nut?

I took the bike from a friend it was a drag bike and he had everything for a mx bike so we just pieced it together.

slide the nut en collar back outta the way so's we can see the groove in the axle. it would appear that the clip is nawt the one for your application.

Looks like the wrong clip! Years ago I had a brand new LSR axle that was machined wrong and the axle clip would pop out under hard turning! The axle literall y slid out of the carrier! I was going nuts! Sent it back to LSR and they fixed it no questions asked and paid for round trip shipping! I think you have the wrong clip though!

thats a aftermarket lock nut. You need one of those washers I was talking about. pn. 90530-HA2-000. It is actually off a 85-86 atc. The trx factory set up just uses the lock nut. Could use it either way

i have a washer on my 86 trx and my buddy has one on his 87
you need a washer and your biggest problem is thata the whole nut is backwardsif you flip it around it may help but youll need the washer
ill post a pic of what it should look like when i get off of work today.

freestyler,

you have the wrong clip, the stock clip is round and fits into the groove on the end of the threaded portion of the nut. you can't turn the nut around as the nut side is splined for the axle, this is backwards from most aftermarket nuts which is why people are telling you to turn it around. You need clip p/n90652-HA2-000 around 2 bucks from honda. when installed you shouldn't see much of the clip, the recess holds the clip on during side loading. I'm betting your clip sits on the end of the nut, which is why it keeps popping off.http://i473.photobucket.com/albums/rr94/mfr422/tinkertoy/DSCN7880.jpg
when installed the clip will be flush with the end of the threaded portion of the nut. btw that is an aftermarket nut. good luck and roost on!!!
