is there any advantage of putting this carb scoop or whatever you call it or is it mainly for looks? and do you have to have a supercharger to use one or will it be alright on just a dual carb setup...sorry for the noob nature of the question.

will do nothing without a supercharger. its not the same as a shaker hood scoop.

with a supercharger, it makes the machine.

no its not. he was asking about the scoop its self. the supercharger goes inplace of a manifold. hes talking about putting the scoop on the dual carb setup he already has;)

i found a picture of one not on a "charged" engine...it' just that i didn't want to be getting one and people are thinking i'm trying to trick them to think that i have something i don't so i guess it would be alright to run it?

yea, they are fine to run like that. Make sure your linkage is setup right and you'll be fine. Just watch running it in the rain, I'm not sure if you can get an outerwears for the filter in there or not but it might be something to look into.
