I tweaked my frame last year beyond repair and now that the warm weather is here i cant get it fixed soon enough. I was wondering what year z, kfx ,or dvx frames will match my 06? and if anyone has suggestions for replacing my frame as cheap and correctly as possible? I am a college student right now so money is short.

All year frames(03-08) are the same.

Actually they are not, 05-07 are the same 03-04 - look at the microfishe - they changed the subframe , so your best bet to get a frame is to buy one on ebay. There are several sellers that part out Z's all the time and the frames are usually $250 or even no reserve, the shipping may kill you though.

Another option is to part your machine out and buy another one. There is a good chance you can find a complete Z for around the same price as what you'd get for your parts. If you have motor work, you may want to sell the other motor in the new machine.

Yeah the subframe is different but the frame itself is the same on all years(right?)

technically no not all frames are the same but they will all work. The 03's and some 04's are missing the reinforcing tabs on the upper shock mounts. Any year will work but I would still get a gusset kit on the bish!

What did you do with your old frame? I would like to get the A-arm mounts off of it if you still have it. Will pay $10+shipping for them if they are good.

Do you have the capacity to cut the frame up?

I'd like to get the whole lower section that houses the brake light switch. Possibly radiator mounts as well.

Illustrated here. A hack saw or cutting torch for that section would do fine.

i have read in alot of places that the 03 frames were weak from the type of metal they used or the supplier. 04 up is suppose to be a stronger frame.
