Motor will not rev up

i have an 02 300ex fmf full exhaust, K&N, and jetted carb. when you hold it at full throttle it is like the reverse rev limiter is engaged and it will not rev up like normal. has anyone ever had this problem.

Look to see if your reverse switch or nuetral safety switches are unplugged. You should ground them so that you can start in any gear and u wont have a rev limiter in reverse. If that doesnt work check your plug. Sometimes if the gap isnt right on it the motor wont run right. Hope that helps

Your talking about the wires that go into the case under the clutch right?

yes there should be two wires that go behind a little cover and connect under the clutch. one is reverse and one is neutral. If i can remember right one is green and one is gray. Hope that helps.

check your choke mine used to pop on when i was riding and it would rev like 1/4 of the way

I think its deeper ive had a valve ticking for a while now and its getting worse im going to tear the motor down cause i think my time chain may have jumped.

I was gonna suggest that because i had my quad on the trail was riding all day almost 100 miles and we stopped at a gas station and i let it idle for a little while and it died and wouldnt start. sure enough the timming jumped. and i just fixed it and drove it unitl it finally put a valve through the piston and i have had problems since. good luck

i was right it was deeper the ball bearing that holdes the cam has no balls!!! so some where in my motor is ten tiny steel balls and the collar that holdes them together.

wow thats not good sounds like ur gonna tear apart your motor or atleast the clutch cover side since thats where the timming chain is and mostlikely where the balls are. Good luck
