getting ready for an oil change...what do i need. my friends dad works at honda and can get me free oil, i just need what kind.

any oil, everybody has their "favorite" and it works excellant for them but it really doens'tm atter, as long as it's made for gasoline engines, use it.

I broke mine in on HondaLube GN4 and then switched to Amsoil 10w40- seemed to run noticeably cooler and shifted smoother as well, and I rode & revved the piss outta that thing on a regular basis. I think any good semi or full synthetic is the way to go, personally.

if you believe in this then you sir are an idiot. you can not and should not ever use a new car oil in your atv because it is for "gasoline" engines. there are way to many additives and detergents in there that are harmful for wet clutch systems.

if you are racing or riding hard and changing oil ofter i.e. every weekend or so then i reccommend rotella t. yea thats right diesel oil. why pay 6-8$ a quart or more when rotella t is like 6 bucks a GALLON. and it is perfectly safe for a wet sump clutch system.

don't forget you will need an oil filter. i use any non synthetic 20-50.
