View Full Version : Gutting your muffler?

Haven't found anything that states it to be good or bad, from what i can understand if you gut the inside but leave the silencer it should produce hp, how much is a guess but more then stock....
Any comments?

IMO the very small gain is negated by how crappy it sounds after it's gutted. Just my .02 cents.

Gutting it doesnt always equal a HP gain.

It does always mean alot more noise to annoy folks!

Gutting the muffler will make it louder, and it will produce an unwanted dreadful noise. Also it will still be breathing through the factory end cap, which will not help performance at all. It will be more worth while to save up some money and get a slip-on. Check on Craigslist, or E-Bay for deals.

Put my new HMF on last night without a quiet core. Holy LOUDNESS!!! Ordered the qc with crossed fingers.
